In a world where inequality and socio-economic struggles persist, Development of Mohila Society (DMS) has emerged as a beacon of hope. Established in 1999 by Fouzia Jesmin, this non-profit organization has been transforming lives across Bangladesh.

With a strong commitment to education, health, women empowerment, environmental sustainability, and poverty alleviation, DMS has become a trusted name in grassroots development.

DMS is dedicated to empowering disadvantaged communities, particularly women and children, by providing the tools and opportunities needed to lead self-sufficient, dignified lives.

Impact at a Glance

Over the past 24 years, DMS has directly impacted over 150,000 beneficiaries, with 170,000 additional indirect beneficiaries through various programs. Our key focus areas include:

  • Non-formal primary education for underprivileged children
  • Women empowerment through skill training & microfinance
  • Health & nutrition programs for lactating mothers & vulnerable groups
  • Ending child marriage & promoting gender equality

Transforming Lives Through Action

Education for All

Education is a fundamental right, yet millions of children are deprived of quality learning. DMS has successfully implemented non-formal education programs across various districts, ensuring that children from marginalized communities receive basic education, vocational training, and life skills development.

Through partnerships with organizations like BRAC and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education (BNF), DMS has operated Pre-primary and Adult Education Programs, significantly reducing illiteracy rates.

Women Empowerment & Economic Stability

Women are at the heart of sustainable development. Through livelihood skill training, poultry rearing, sewing machine distribution, and vegetable cultivation, DMS has empowered thousands of women to achieve financial independence.

With over 1,000 women trained annually, these initiatives have transformed struggling households into economically stable families.

Safe Water & Sanitation for Healthier Communities

Access to clean water and proper sanitation is essential for public health. In collaboration with NGO Forum, DMS has installed arsenic-free tube wells and distributed over 20,000 sanitary latrines, significantly improving health and hygiene standards in rural communities.

Climate Resilience & Environmental Sustainability

With climate change posing serious challenges in Bangladesh, DMS promotes social forestry, eco-sensitive land use, and climate awareness programs. By planting thousands of trees and training communities in disaster preparedness, we are building a more resilient and environmentally conscious society.
